Tottenham are “on a mission” to scout a young forward who could break their transfer record after missing out on Antoine Semenyo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Semenyo chooses Man City, forcing Tottenham to look elsewhere

Tottenham have been linked with Bournemouth winger Semenyo over the summer and ahead of the January transfer window, with manager David Ornstein revealing the Lilywhites have made a big contract offer for the Ghanaian.

“Tottenham tried again and offered a very competitive salary, but Semenyo politely declined the offer, with City and United now emerging as the frontrunners.”

The Lilywhites made a sizeable offer…

Semenyo has been pursued by almost the entire Big Six after an incredible start to the season, scoring eight goals in 16 top-flight appearances.

Manchester City are currently the frontrunners as they want to sign him early in January, which is in line with Semenyo’s own ambitions.

“He is an extraordinary, extraordinary, extraordinary player,” Guardiola said earlier this season.

“His energy, confidence and movement are unbelievable. He never stops running, he attacks space very well and when he gets the ball you feel something is going to happen.”

“He’s getting better every game. Players like him make this league special. Always hungry, always brave.”

Spurs will have to look elsewhere as they look to improve Thomas Frank’s forward options, with Romano sharing their interest in the rising star who is currently not in AFCON.

Tottenham scout Yann Diomande

The transfer expert revealed on his YouTube channel that Spurs are “on a mission” to scout RB Leipzig sensation Yann Diomande, who is included in Morocco’s Ivory Coast squad.

The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes in his country’s opening match against Mozambique and is expected to be one of the breakout stars of this tournament.

Give Me Sport report that the versatile forward, who can play on either wing, would cost more than £87 million, which would be Tottenham’s record fee.

Diomande has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 16 games for Leipzig this season, including a hat-trick in the recent 6-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Bundesliga’s official website compares the youngster to Borussia Dortmund and German star Karim Adeyemi, describing him as having “quick feet and blistering pace”.
