Chelsea will reportedly have Callum MacFarlane in the dugout for their next Premier League match against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Blues parted ways with manager Enzo Maresca today, but do not expect a new permanent successor to be named before their next game against Man City.

Watch below as Ben Jacobs reports that MacFarlane, who manages the club’s Under-21s, will be given the reins for this big game at the Etihad Stadium…

This will be a big test for Chelsea as MacFarlane is inexperienced at this level, but fans of the west London giants will be hoping it lasts just one game.

Chelsea are currently not in the best of form, having won just one of their last seven Premier League games, so it probably makes sense for Maresca to end up leaving Stamford Bridge.

Still, it will be difficult for CFC to improve on Maresca. The Italian tactician is often seen as having done a great job in the club’s difficult situations.

Chelsea returned to the top four last season, winning both the European Conference League and the Club World Cup.

There’s been a lot of talk about Liam Rosenior, who has also been hired by the owners of Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, but it remains to be seen whether he can really improve on the job Maresca was doing.

It will be interesting to see how the club’s next permanent manager finds himself, as MacFarlane has to lead his team through such difficult matches this weekend.
