  • Rangers offer new midfielder a contract
  • Why Bohinen would be a dream Raskin replacement for Rangers
        • Imagine him and Moore: Rangers want to sign star currently valued at £4m

The January transfer window is officially open and Glasgow Rangers’ squad could look quite different by the time it closes.

One player whose future at Ibrox is in doubt is central midfielder Nicholas Raskin. Last month, it was reported that Gers could accept an offer for him in January following interest from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Turkish giants Besiktas are also rumored to be interested in the Belgian international, with the Scottish Premiership side said to value Besiktas at around £13 million.

Rangers offer new midfielder a contract

If Ger are able to land the midfield star, with interest from Besiktas and Spurs, the club will need to bring in a replacement to strengthen Danny Rohr’s side.

Glasgow Rangers are interested in signing Genoa central midfielder Emil Bohinen in the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy.

The 26-year-old star’s agent is said to have brokered an offer from Gers and sent it to Genoa, who are expected to shorten his loan to Venice to facilitate a move in January, according to reports.

The Scottish giants have not revealed how much they offered to sign the English-born talent, but Eredivisie club and Spezia have also said they are keen to sign him this month, meaning there is significant competition for his contract.

Sport Wit also suggests Bohinen could be subject to interest from Rohr, as he has been linked with a move to the Championship in the past, with the German manager managing Sheffield Wednesday for two seasons before moving to Ibrox.

Why Bohinen would be a dream Raskin replacement for Rangers

Gers need to push to win the race for the Norwegian talent, as he could be the perfect replacement for Ruskin if the club decides to sign the Belgian this month.

Like the current Rangers star, Bohinen is a combative central midfielder who can win duels, complete passes with incredible speed and contribute to goals at the top end of the pitch.

Those attributes even led him to be compared to Mikel Merino by talent scout Jacek Kulig in 2020. Merino has since signed with Arsenal and has scored 14 goals in 71 games for the club.

According to Sofascore, Bohinen has only started one game for Venice in Serie B this season, meaning he hasn’t had a chance to show off his quality on the pitch.

But last season, the Norwegian central midfielder was loaned to Frosinone for the second half of the Italian second-division season, where he attracted attention for his performances.

As can be seen from the table above, Bohinen’s statistics in the league last season suggest that he could be a suitable replacement for Raskin in the center of the park for the Light Blues.

The Belgian star has been a well-rounded midfielder, providing quality at both ends of the park throughout his time at Ibrox, and the Genoa talent appears to have a similar profile.

Bohinen’s scoring ability was also on display in Eliteserien’s past two seasons with Stabek, with nine goals and seven assists in the 2019 and 2020 campaigns combined, according to Sofascore.

He reminded us of his quality at the top end of the pitch at Frosinone in Italy last season, but he hasn’t had time to show the best version of himself this season.

If Rangers can reach an agreement to bring Genoa to Ibrox, Bohinen’s combination of ball-winning and goalscoring ability in the middle of the park could make him the perfect replacement for Ruskin and their own version of Merino.

The 26-year-old will likely join as a contracted player who can make an immediate impact, as central midfielders are not young and inexperienced and will need some time to settle in.

Imagine him and Moore: Rangers want to sign star currently valued at £4m

Rangers are reportedly keen to sign the star player who could be a dream partner for Mikey Moore.

That’s why he could be the perfect replacement for Raskin, as Gers need an immediate star to replace the Belgian star if he leaves this month.
