United Part Ways with Amorim Following Wilcox Controversy

Ruben Amorim has been dismissed from his position as Manchester United’s manager following a heated discussion with director of football Jason Wilcox on Friday, according to ESPN sources.

During the meeting, Amorim reacted negatively to discussions concerning his preferred 3-4-3 formation and potential changes to the team’s playing style.

Afterward, Amorim faced reporters in a tense press conference before leaving the Carrington training facility promptly.

He skipped a scheduled broadcast interview, citing “personal reasons,” which led to defender Lisandro Martinez stepping in for him.

Wilcox had reportedly intended for the meeting to address feedback from the 1-1 draw against Wolves earlier that week.

His emotional response to feedback was viewed as problematic by club officials and indicated a deterioration in his relationship with Wilcox.

The 1-1 draw with Leeds was followed by a contentious press conference where the Portuguese manager insisted he be treated as a “manager, not a coach,” and urged Wilcox to fulfill his responsibilities.

United sources claim that Amorim’s dismissal was not solely due to internal conflicts but was also based on the team’s lack of visible development and progress on the field.
