Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha must have thought he was going to score when his header went over the line.

At the time of writing, Manchester United were losing 1-0 to Burnley, with the Clarets taking the lead early on through an own goal from Aiden Haven.

However, the Red Devils were a bit unlucky not to equalize at this point as Lisandro Martinez’s goal was canceled out, and Cunha also came very close to scoring with this header.

See below. Cunha did a good job of directing his header into the goal, but the Burnley defense did their job in the final moments to keep it 1-0…

Manchester United struggle in first game under manager Darren Fletcher

United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager earlier this week and former player Darren Fletcher has now taken over as caretaker manager on an interim basis.

Fletcher was a great player for MUFC at the time, but he is inexperienced as a coach and it remains to be seen whether he is indeed the right choice to lead the club through this difficult period.

As Fabrizio Romano reported today, United are close to bringing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back to the club for a second spell as manager.

Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that direct negotiations have taken place and that things are looking positive for the Norwegian tactician to return to Old Trafford.

For now, though, United want Fletcher to do everything he can to lead his team through this game, and possibly the next game if another caretaker manager has not been named by then.
