Crystal Palace are looking to strengthen their attacking line-up and are hoping to sign a reliable goalscorer.
The Premier League has concerns about Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eddie Nketiah, according to former Premier League scout Mick Brown.
Palace want replacements for Mateta and Nketiah
“The strikers are a concern for Crystal Palace,” he told Football Insider.
“Not only on the pitch because we know they are struggling for goals, but also off the pitch because of Mateta’s contract situation.
“There is a lot of uncertainty about him as he doesn’t seem to be looking to sign a new contract at the moment and he could potentially leave.
“Nketiah has never really started at Palace and has had a lot of injuries like this, so I think they would feel open to replacing him if the opportunity arises.
“So they are looking at a striker, a young player with a bright future ahead of them, and a player who could be a potential replacement for Mateta and Nketiah in the meantime in case they have to leave.”
Palace could use upgrades from Mateta and Nketiah
Mateta has had some great performances for Crystal Palace over the years, but he hasn’t been at his best this season. It will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace can bring in a young replacement with more potential. They have put together a great team and are competing in European football. If we want to maintain that level, we need to improve our team.
Signing a quality striker could be a smart move for them in the coming months.
Nketiah, on the other hand, is a useful player for them. But if we want to fight for trophies regularly and compete in European football, we need better players. They recently won the FA Cup and Community Shield. They will want to maintain that level. To achieve that, we need high-quality players.
It will be interesting to see if they can bring in suitable reinforcements over the next few periods. A reliable finisher adds a new dimension to the attacking unit and could transform the team in the final third.
