Russell Henry enters the new season as the favorite to win the 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii. The American finished fifth in the men’s top 200. The former University of Georgia standout will be seeking his sixth PGA Tour win and ninth as a professional. His last win came at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Bay Hill, Fla., last March. This year’s event begins Thursday at 1:49 p.m. ET at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.

The tournament will be played on a 7,044 yard par 70 course. DraftKings Sportsbook’s 2026 Sony Open odds have Henry as a +1100 favorite (risk $100 to win $1,100). Other favorites include Hideki Matsuyama and Ben Griffin at +1700, JJ Spaun at +1800, Siu Kim, Robert McIntyre, and Collin Morikawa at +2000. Three-time major champion Jordan Spieth is a long shot at +4500. Before choosing the 2026 Sony Open, you should check out golf expert Brady Canon’s 2026 Sony Open predictions and best bets.

Kannon is an elite golf handicapper with over 30 years of experience in the golf industry. He has eight outright major wins since 2013. In the fall of 2022, he had three straight weeks of outright winners: Russell Henry (40-1), Tony Finau (18-1) and Adam Svensson (150-1). Last season, he beat Hideki Matsuyama (22-1), Harris English (110-1), Ludvig Aberg (25-1) and Ben Griffin/Andrew Novak (25-1) in New Orleans last season.

2026 Sony Open experts’ top picks

One of Canon’s 2026 Sony Open predictions is that he expects 36-year-old TCU graduate Tom Hoge to decline. He has +20000 on the outright market, where canons are distancing themselves from him and betting on cuts, head-to-heads, etc.

“The TCU Horned Frogs fell to 99th in the OWGR, and in five FedExCup fall starts, Hoge has missed the cut three times,” Kannon said. “In fact, since the PGA Championship last May, Hoge has missed the cut nine times in 15 starts on tour. Hoge has played in the Sony Open 10 times and has missed the cut four times despite finishing third in 2018. I don’t expect him to get back into shape just yet.” See who Kanon is supporting on SportsLine.

Another golfer whose canon is declining is Tony Finau at +11000. The 36-year-old turned pro in 2007 and has six wins on the PGA Tour, one on the Korn Ferry Tour and two others. He recorded his last win at the Mexican Open in April 2023.

“It’s been a tumultuous past year for Finau, as he has struggled with legal issues and only one golf match in which he finished in the top 10 in 2025,” Canon said. “Statistically, Finau has fallen into the 125th to 150th place area in the overall tour rankings in terms of approach play, scrambling, greens in regulation, putting, etc. I imagine a player of his caliber would turn things around, but I don’t expect that to happen yet. In his five previous visits to Waialae, Finau has missed the cut twice and has never finished higher than 20th.Hoge and Finau are both priced in the triple digits.”He needs a win this week, but if he can find a head-to-head matchup with them, it’s worth a closer look. ”
