Bournemouth Vasco da Gama striker Ryan’s medical is nearing completion, but he is reportedly facing delays due to his lengthy contract.
Latest reports suggest Ryan’s medical has been delayed, leaving Bournemouth frustrated as they are yet to finalize a deal for the Brazilian forward.
Newcastle are also interested in signing Ryan and may be plotting to hijack his contract.
However, Magpies manager Eddie Howe denied this, with the 48-year-old saying there was no truth to talk of his side competing with Bournemouth for Rayane.
Are Newcastle still in the race to sign Rayan?
Asked about Rayanne, Howe said: “There’s no truth to that.”
Newcastle fans will no doubt be hoping the club can strengthen up front this January, but it appears Bournemouth are probably still the frontrunners to sign the talented teenager.
The Cherries hope these delays do not last too long, but overall it looks like NUFC need to find alternatives to strengthen their attack.
Who else could Newcastle sign up front this January?
Newcastle have endured a difficult few months after losing star striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool at the end of the summer transfer window.
Nick Woltemade and Ioan Wissa both ended up moving to St James’ Park, but neither were completely convinced.
Rayan could have been a decent option to give Howe another attacking outlet, but he has also been linked with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
It may not be an easy deal for Newcastle either, with Mateta’s future at Palace in serious doubt and other clubs including Aston Villa and Tottenham also in contention for the 28-year-old France international.
