  • AS Roma manager Ricky Massara confirms talks with Liverpool
  • Arne Slott’s future is in big doubt after 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth

AS Roma have confirmed that talks are underway for Kostas Tsimikas to return to Liverpool on a shortened loan spell.

Talks to bring him back began after Tottenham moved to sign Andy Robertson.

Initial reports suggested Tsimikas’ call-up was a contingency plan in case of Robertson’s possible departure, but reports have now emerged that Liverpool have called off a sale of the Scottish player to their Premier League rivals.

However, despite retaining Robertson, the decision remains to bring the ‘world-class’ defender back to Merseyside, with the club clearly keen to strengthen their defensive depth immediately.

The move was officially confirmed by AS Roma director Ricky Massara, who confirmed that the Italian club had already sanctioned the defender’s sending off.

According to a statement published by Fabrizio Romano in X, the situation is moving rapidly.

“AS Roma have already agreed for Kostas Tsimikas to leave the club and return to Liverpool next week,” Romano reported.

Massara directly addressed negotiations, saying: “That’s true. We’re negotiating with Liverpool about it.”

Arne Slott’s future is in big doubt after 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth

This transfer activity was carried out against the backdrop of manager Arne Slott’s crisis.

The Dutchman’s chances of staying in the Premier League are on the line after this weekend’s disastrous 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth, which added to his dismal winter run.

The data paints a bleak picture for slots. Liverpool have currently won just one of their last seven Premier League games, taking just five points out of a possible 21.

The loss against the Cherries meant the Reds dropped to 6th place, 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Luck was on Liverpool’s side at the beginning of the season, and despite poor performances, they won their first five games. Without these wins, they would sit just above the relegation zone with 21 points.

It’s quickly becoming a question of when, not if, Slott will be fired. Whatever Liverpool’s leaders decide to do, they need to make a decision quickly before the season is completely derailed.
