  • Guido Rodriguez happy to leave West Ham United
  • Hammers looking for further January additions

West Ham United midfielder Guido Rodriguez has expressed his excitement after arriving in Spain to complete his move to Valencia.

The 31-year-old, who joined West Ham last summer, is set to finalize a short-term deal that will keep him at the Mestalla until the end of the season.

Valencia have been in talks with West Ham for several weeks and are pushing for Rodriguez as part of a January changeover.

As reported by Inside Futbol, Rodriguez expressed his joy to El Chiringuito TV shortly after his arrival, saying:

“I’m very happy. Valencia is a very big club. I also spoke to (Carlos) Corberan.”

The Argentine midfielder will join the Valencia team in search of stability.

The club sit just four points behind 18th-placed Alaves and are embroiled in a tense relegation battle, having won just five of 21 league games.

Rodriguez is expected to play a key role in strengthening the backbone of the team, as creativity and midfield balance have been lacking throughout the season.

West Ham made aggressive moves in the January market, bringing in Pablo and Tati Castellanos to strengthen their attack.

Coach Nuno Espirito Santo is determined to rebuild his squad and add experienced and disciplined players who can overcome the pressure of a relegation battle.

Rodriguez’s departure will free up valuable space in the squad, reducing personnel costs and creating scope for targeted reinforcements.

The Hammers have several midfield and attacking options linked together, making lightening the load on fringe players essential to their strategy.

Rodriguez was also attracting interest from other regions. Gremio approached him as part of strengthening their midfield, but reports in Italy said that Juventus were considering a loan offer.

However, Valencia acted boldly and were able to satisfy both the Hammers and the player, securing a move that puts Rodriguez at the center of their survival mission.
