Tottenham Hotspur have been producing more than Jekyll and Hyde performances over the years, and this season under manager Thomas Frank has exemplified that.

Despite early exits in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup and languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League (again), winning the Champions League appears to be their most likely route to competing on the continent next year, as well as their only chance of winning a silver medal.

It’s a far-fetched idea, but Spurs have been in good form throughout their European campaign so far, securing a place in the last 16 with a win over Eintracht Frankfurt and avoiding the hassle of an extra knockout round.

Frank is still in trouble and needs to get more attacking form from his players, but the return of Dominic Solanke has solved the problem.

Still, ENIC Group is trawling the list for No. 9 target.

Spurs plan to sign striker

Randall Kolo Muani also scored against his former team in the Champions League. However, the Frenchman has looked indifferent at times on the domestic scene and his loan spell is unlikely to be sealed for long.

Richarlison is currently sidelined and is rumored to be on the move at the end of the season, a year before his contract expires, so it may be worth acting quickly to strengthen what is understandably an already deteriorating front line.

Technical director Johan Lange has been implicated in the matter, with Spanish sources revealing that Spurs are preparing a formal transfer offer for Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Aslani from his German employers, valued at around 30 million euros (about 2.6 billion yen).

Chelsea are also in the race and are certainly favorites to win at this stage, but interest in Tottenham will only grow as Frank struggles for a more fluid and efficient front line.

Barcelona were said to be interested in the Albanian forward earlier this season, so it’s clear Spurs will land a high-ceiling talent.

What Asllani brings to Spurs

Asllani is a dynamic attacker who is capable as a centre-forward and has the grace and athleticism to play across the front line. In this respect, he has the potential to become a Tottenham superstar.

At just 23 years old, the Kosovo international has been in great form in the Bundesliga this term, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 18 appearances, with talent scout Jacek Kulig praising him as a “perfect forward”.

With that in mind, his dynamism to compete in multiple areas and dangerous instincts in front of goal have cemented him as Spurs’ talisman, and as he continues to go from strength to strength, he could threaten Solanke’s place in the starting XI.

What is interesting is Aslani’s stability in front of goal. He has missed just four big chances in the Bundesliga this season, six of which have been converted. This is a level of accuracy in dangerous areas that allows Spurs to benefit from some traditional gaps in Frank’s system.

We have to believe that Tottenham will grow from a creative point of view. But the Londoners need a good marksman anyway, and while Solanke has shown throughout January that he is capable of leading the line, his injury history leaves him with so many expectations that he has no choice but to sign a replacement.

One thing is for sure: Spurs’ front line with Solanke at center has become more stable and fluid. There’s a reason Daniel Levy earned just over a club record amount.

But Aslani is the real deal, and if Tottenham are serious about signing him in 2026, that could spell bad news for Solanke as he looks to solidify his No. 9 spot.
