Report: Chelsea considering transfer for 21-year-old who would be perfect for Liam Rosenior

Valentin Barco is a target for Liam Rosenior, with Chelsea reportedly considering a move for fellow Blueco to Strasbourg.

Rosseniol knows Barco well from his time managing them in Ligue 1, and Ficajes says they could meet again at Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to reports, Chelsea rate Barco highly, with the 21-year-old impressing as a top youngster during his time in France.

The fact that he also played under Rosenior should help him adapt well at Chelsea, where he can add quality and depth in two positions.

What Valentin Barco brings to Chelsea

Barco primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, but could also provide the Blues with a left-back option if needed.

It remains to be seen how Chelsea will use him, as Rosseniol already has Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo as his two main starters in midfield.

However, it is unlikely that CFC will give Barco much of a chance to start at left-back, given that Marc Cucurella and Llorel Hato are already in that position.

Do Chelsea really need Barco? We gave him this low-medium score in our Transfer Fit rating system because while the Argentine player probably has great talent, it’s probably hard to justify this move now…

The need for squads*

As you can see, Barco has performed well due to his recent form and the fact that he is a young player with his best years ahead of him, but he lacks experience, is not a high priority position for Chelsea and probably won’t be worth the money even if he can get favorable terms with Strasbourg.
