The New York Mets have secured former Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette with a three-year contract worth $126 million, according to various sources. As reported by The Athletic, Bichette is set to play third base for the Mets, and his agreement includes a no-trade clause.

This signing follows closely after Kyle Tucker, a key outfielder the Mets were pursuing, committed to a four-year, $240 million deal with the Los Angeles . Bichette, who led the American League in hits during 2021 and 2022, delivered impressive numbers in 2025, hitting 18 home runs, driving in 94 runs, and posting a .311/.357/.483 slash line over 139 games. Although he missed the last month of the regular season due to a knee injury, he returned to play second base in the 2025 World Series.

Despite being a two-time All-Star and primarily a shortstop over his 713 career starts, Bichette will take on third base for the Mets, a position he hasn’t played in Major League Baseball yet. He joins a team that ended last season with an 83-79 record and missed the playoffs.

In addition to Bichette, the Mets have bolstered their roster by signing former New York Yankees relievers Devin Williams (three years, $51 million) and Luke Weaver (two years, $22 million), as well as ex-Seattle Mariners infielder Jorge Polanco (two years, $40 million). They also traded for players like Brandon Nimmo and Marcus Semien from the Texas Rangers.

Earlier this offseason, the Mets lost star first baseman Pete Alonso, who signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, and closer Edwin Diaz, who agreed to a three-year, $69 million deal with the .
