It’s official: Chelsea announce two deadline day signings in quick succession

Chelsea have officially announced that Mamadou Sarr has been recalled to the club from his loan to Strasbourg, while Aaron Anselmino has joined the Ligue 1 outfit.

The Blues recently recalled Anselmino from a loan spell with Borussia Dortmund, which looked like he could join the first team later in the season.

However, Chelsea have announced that the talented young Argentine will join Strasbourg on loan for the second half of the season, replacing Sarr, who has returned to Stamford Bridge.

See below for the official announcements made in quick succession this evening…

The first post welcoming Sarr back was posted just after 6pm, while the following post about Anselmino was posted about 45 minutes later…

Chelsea reunites Mamadou Sarr and Liam Rosenior

Having Sarr play under Liam Rosenior again could be smart business by the west London giants, even if some Chelsea fans may be a little baffled by the move.

Rosenior recently took over as CFC manager, replacing Enzo Maresca, who impressed at fellow BlueCo club Strasbourg.

Sarr played under Rosenior and performed well, so he could be a useful option for Chelsea to sign later in the season.

It will be interesting to see if the talented 20-year-old stays in the Chelsea squad, but there is no doubt that he could if Rosenior had more options at the back.

No doubt some fans will be looking for last-minute tickets for tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg between Arsenal and Chelsea, but that game is certainly too soon for Sarr.

The Senegalese international will be thrown into a really deep position if he is given his Chelsea debut in such a big game at the Emirates Stadium, but he will probably continue to feature on the wing thereafter.
