The 2026 Alabama high school golf season has begun, and several players from the Tuscaloosa area are already in the preseason recognition conversation. Fans now have the opportunity to vote for the 2026 Tuscaloosa News Preseason Golfer of the Year.
The AHSAA season opened with the first practice on January 19th and the game on February 5th. The postseason begins with the section tournament April 27-28, followed by semistate play May 4-5 and the AHSAA state golf tournament May 11-12. The AISA State Golf Tournament is also scheduled for May 4th and 5th.

Below are the Tuscaloosa area preseason golf player of the year candidates. Candidates were selected by area coaches from a pool of preseason standouts. Voting will be accepted until noon on Wednesday, February 11th.
2026 Tuscaloosa News Preseason Golfer of the Year Candidates
American Christian Andrew Turner (senior)
why: Turner, who played varsity for six years, has signed a contract to play at High Point University. He enters his senior season as the highest-ranked player in Tuscaloosa and is currently ranked No. 14 in Alabama and No. 543 in the nation by Junior Golf Scoreboard. During the 2025 season, Turner won the Patriot Open, AHSAA Class 4A Section 2, Class 4A Substate, SJGT Patton Kizzile Invitational, was runner-up at the Class 4A State Championship and third at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship.
American Christian Andrew Turner has signed to play collegiate golf at High Point.
Victoria Allison (Sr.) of Fayette County;
why: Allison has been named the WAC Tournament MVP in each of the past two seasons and has led his team in low scoring each year he has played. Her scoring average has dropped by 10 strokes each season, and she already holds offers to play out of high school, with more schools expected to follow her progress this spring.

Northside’s Sawyer Galloway (sophomore)
why: Galloway had Northside’s lowest scoring average in all competition last season and was also the team’s lowest scorer in the sectional tournament. He enters the year after a strong freshman campaign and is expected to continue his development this season.
Sipsey Valley’s Britt Perdue (senior)
why: Purdue played in the AHSAA Class 5A state golf tournament as a junior and finished 13th overall. He is committed to continuing his golf career at Snead State Community College.
Anna Christian Beaker (junior) of Tuscaloosa Academy;
why: Beaker is a returning member of Tuscaloosa Academy’s state championship team and brings a strong resume to the lineup. She won the AHSAA Individual Championship in 2023 and has finished in the top five at the state meet in each of the past two seasons. Beeker has committed to play collegiately at the University of Kentucky and also has one title and multiple top-five finishes on the AJGA Tour.
