Cheltenham Festival 2026: Expert Tips and Trending Ante Post Betting Insights

The Cheltenham Festival kicks off on March 10th, as highlighted by Telegraph Sports, offering a great opportunity to sharpen your betting strategies for four thrilling days of jump racing. Leading up to the event, we will provide top betting tips to help boost your profits during the meeting.

Each week, our expert tipsters will share their advice here, alongside fresh insights focusing on various races to help you delve deeper into your selections. Meanwhile, Marcus Armytage, our horse racing correspondent, reports on the in-form horses ahead of the festival, highlighting his top contenders in bold.

Looking back to the recent Dublin Racing Festival in Ireland, it’s unclear how the outcomes will influence next month’s Gold Cup betting odds. A key point to note is that if long-shot JP McManus enters, he could be a major contender, although he is not currently expected to run. Gaelic Warrior might have clinched the Gold Cup if he had maintained composure but possibly exhausted too much energy, putting him more in line for the Ryanair Chase. Gallopin des Champs showed strong form, but with last year’s Gold Cup winner Inotewayursinkin set to miss a repeat victory this year, the field is wide open.

Major Boro showed significant improvement in the Dublin Chase and has boosted his chances in the Champion Chase. The real question is whether he can maintain this form and surpass the current leader, Marine Nationale. Though he showed promise, Il Etei Temps tired out last time and suffered a major fall.

Regarding mares, Brighter Day Will Come, the Irish Champion Hurdle winner, hasn’t beaten Golden Ace at Cheltenham or Lossiemouth, and with their form so closely matched, either could take the filly’s hurdle. However, after Golden Ace’s disappointing run at Leopardstown, I’m leaning towards Jeremy Scott’s horse.

Talk The Talk seems Ireland’s strongest contender by a considerable margin following his win over Ballyfudd in the Irish Novice Hurdle. Despite some race challenges and difficult ground conditions that caused havoc for other runners, Nicky Henderson’s unbeaten Old Park star remains a top tip.

The newcomers at Dublin, Final Demand and Romeo Coolio, failed to impress. Final Demand’s form dipped after a tired third place in the Ladbrokes Novice Chase, and Romeo Coolio had to fight hard to beat Calges at Arkle. Meanwhile, British competitor Lulamba is set to race against top contenders this weekend at either Newbury or Warwick.
