Chelsea could use Elliott Anderson
Chelsea could use more defensive power and physicality in the middle of the park, and Anderson would be a solid long-term signing. However, he will have to pay £100m to get the deal done. They need to improve in other areas of the team as well. Spending £100m on a midfielder might not be a wise decision. Rather, the priority should be improving defensive ability. They also need a reliable finisher who can find the back of the net on a regular basis.
Manchester United need Anderson
Meanwhile, Manchester United are in dire need of a reliable defensive midfielder like him. Casemiro will leave the club at the end of the season and they need a replacement for him. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to stump up the £100m to complete the deal.
The paper claims Manchester City are the frontrunners to sign the England international midfielder this summer, but it remains to be seen how the situation will develop. His former club Newcastle are also monitoring the situation closely. However, it seems unlikely that they will be able to pay a nine-figure salary to a 23-year-old player.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. He is a quality player who deserves to compete at the highest level.
