Two-time major champion Justin Thomas announced via social media on Tuesday that he has been cleared to resume all golf activities. Thomas is eyeing the Florida Swing as a possible timing for a return to the PGA Tour after undergoing a discectomy in mid-November 2025, just weeks after competing with the U.S. Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black.
“After follow-up imaging and a meeting with my doctors and team, I am officially cleared for all golf activities,” Thomas wrote on Instagram. “It feels great to be able to swing freely again and get some practice out on the course. I’m working hard to build up my strength and stamina to get back into golf shape before competing on the PGA Tour. I can’t wait to get out there with the guys!”
Thomas’ last PGA Tour start was at the 2025 Pro Core Championship. This is the FedEx Cup fall event, which Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley used to strengthen his team before facing European opponents.
The 16-time PGA Tour winner is coming off a 2025 season that ended a winless drought that lasted until the 2022 PGA Championship. Thomas won the marquee event a week after the Masters by defeating Andrew Novak in a playoff at RBC Heritage. He is currently ranked 12th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
“My recovery is progressing well,” Thomas shared with X in January. “I’m slowly getting my strength and conditioning back in the gym and also hitting wedges and short irons. Small wins and patience are the biggest parts of the process. I’m taking it slow and listening to how I feel each day!”
“I hope to return to competition at some point during the Florida swing. I know how important it is for me to get through this injury so that I can only look ahead throughout the season.”
