Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano.

The France international will become a free agent at the end of the season and will demand premium wages from any club that wishes to sign him.

Dayot Upamecano wants huge wages

According to a report by SportWitness, the Bundesliga star could command a salary of around 16 million euros per season. It would be a huge undertaking for any club and it remains to be seen whether his suitors are willing to pay the money.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are interested in signing him. They could make even more use of the quality and depth of their defensive unit, and the France international would be a great addition on a free transfer. However, you may need to address their demands reasonably for this move to be successful.

Upamecano has been described as a “very complete” central defender. He has put in some great performances for the German champions in recent months and there is no doubt that he has the quality to play in the Premier League or La Liga.

Liverpool will need to replace Ibrahima Konate, who will be a free agent at the end of the season. Signing a compatriot could be a wise decision.

Similarly, Chelsea are struggling with injury problems in their final half and need more depth in that area. Signing a reliable central defender would be a step in the right direction.

Real Madrid will also need to tighten up at the back. They will aim to win the title and win the UEFA Champions League. They need defensive cover. Upamecano could be the ideal long-term successor to Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba.

It will be interesting to see where the defender goes.
