Malik Thiau was active at Newcastle.
The player joined Newcastle for £30 million in the summer and has had an outstanding performance for the club. He is under no pressure from Newcastle to sell as he has a long-term contract with them. If Liverpool or Manchester United decide to call him up in the summer, they are likely to demand a large sum of money.
Liverpool need more quality in their defense and the German could certainly be a useful signing. The 24-year-old is in the prime of his career and could be tempted by the idea of joining an elite club like Liverpool.
Ibrahima Konate’s contract expires at the end of this season, and Joe Gomez is also rumored to be leaving the club. Liverpool need to invest in a quality central defender at the end of the season. Newcastle’s star could be ideal for them.
Manchester United keen on Thiau
Similarly, Manchester United will need to add depth to their defense. Harry Maguire is in his 30s and they need to start planning for his successor.
It will be interesting to see which club is willing to pay a premium for him. Newcastle don’t want to lose players easily. They are building a formidable team and trying to keep their best players.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how the player reacts to the potential interest from top clubs.
