  • Eze and Gokeres restore 5-point cushion

Arsenal responded furiously to their recent title scare by defeating arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 on Sunday.

While Gunners players and fans celebrated wildly at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, former Premier League striker Chris Sutton was far from impressed and warned Mikel Arteta’s side may be getting ahead of themselves.

The victory was a statement of intent after Wolves’ disappointing draw with Brentford threatened to derail their campaign.

However, the jubilant scenes at the final whistle featured prolonged crowd and emotional fan interaction on the pitch, leading to a harsh reprimand from Sutton.

Immediately after the match, Sutton appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live and expressed concern that the euphoria of the tense title race could lead to complacency.

Sutton said: “It’s a bit worrying that the Arsenal players are celebrating too much. I hope they celebrate at the end of the season when they win the title.”

Sutton’s comments reflect a recurring narrative surrounding Arteta’s Arsenal, who have often been accused of celebrating too much mid-season wins.

For Sutton, the focus should only be on the remaining 10 games, not the one derby win.

Eze and Gokeres restore 5-point cushion

Despite Sutton’s complaints, his performance on the pitch was undeniable. Ebelesi Eze scored five goals in two games against Spurs in an Arsenal shirt, scoring two clinical goals, continuing the remarkable ‘Derby Devils’ winning streak and ending their goal drought in the Premier League.

Summer signing Victor Goqueres was also on the scoresheet, scoring two goals and an impressive overall performance.

Kolo Muani scored Tottenham’s only goal after a mistake from Declan Rice.

Arsenal won 4-1, ensuring they maintain a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

However, second-placed Manchester City still have a game left and the pressure remains high.

Spurs remain languishing in 16th place under new manager Igor Tudor, but Arsenal have regained their status as title contenders.
