Liverpool achieved a resounding 5-2 victory over West Ham on Saturday. Achieved 4 consecutive victories in all tournaments.

The result marks a marked change in form for Arne Slott’s side after a difficult and inconsistent first half of the season.

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day after the dramatic win, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister stressed that time and mutual understanding were the catalyst for their recent success.

“Now that we’ve spent time together, things are easier. We understand each other,” he explained.

“The last four or five months are the time for the team to show what they’re capable of. That’s what we want. We understand how important it is for the club and for us as a team to qualify for the Champions League.”

The Argentina international made it 3-0 with a stunning volley before half-time, underscoring that his side are finding their rhythm in the most important period of the season.

Liverpool will regain form in 2026

This statistic reflects a team that has become increasingly difficult to beat since the beginning of the year.

In 14 games in all competitions in 2026, Liverpool recorded eight wins, four draws and only two losses.

With this result, they have moved up to 5th place in the Premier League standings and are currently level on points with Manchester United in 4th place.

Liverpool need to continue their momentum to win Champions League football

Despite scoring five goals against the Hammers, the race for the top four remains tight.

With Aston Villa in third place, just three points behind and Chelsea suffocating, consistency will be key and there is no room for complacency.

If the Reds can maintain this scoring touch and the tactical “understanding” that Mac Allister has referred to, a return to Europe’s elite competition will look increasingly likely.
