Manchester United’s attack has been the focus of much attention in the Premier League so far this season, as evidenced by their 50 goals in 28 games so far.
Part of the success within the final third is undoubtedly due to the £200m spent in the summer transfer window, which saw three new faces move to Old Trafford.
Brian Mbeumo is just one of the additions made by INEOS, who reportedly spent £71 million to sign the Cameroon international from Brentford.
Such a move is already impressive, as evidenced by the fact that the 26-year-old has scored nine league goals this season, the most of any player on the team.
However, despite the team’s investment during the summer, they are also looking at a number of players to further improve their front line during the offseason.
Manchester United’s £52m bid for teenage star likely to be accepted
Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Mane is just one player who has been linked with a summer move to United in recent weeks.
The 18-year-old has made his breakthrough at Molineux this season, making 18 appearances and scoring a total of three goals and assisting.
However, the deal could cost close to £50m, with various other teams keen to sign him, despite Rob Edwards’ side suffering relegation to the Championship.
Mane is not the only young talent the Red Devils are currently eyeing for the summer, with FC Köln star Said El Mara also being considered as another option.
According to TEAMtalk, United are keen on signing the 18-year-old, who has scored eight goals in 24 Bundesliga games in 2025/26.
The paper also claims that the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool are also very keen to sign the Germany Under-21 international during the off-season.
However, there is further evidence that El Mara is now dreaming of a move to the Premier League, with the deal potentially costing around €60m (approximately £52m).
Why El Mara could become Manchester United’s next Benjamin Sesco
United are no stranger to spending big in recent years to acquire talent from the Bundesliga, as seen in last summer’s big-spending signing of Benjamin Sesco.
The Slovenian centre-forward arrived during the summer in a deal worth £73 million, with the 22-year-old seen as the solution to their goalscoring problems.
Although he had a difficult start to life at Old Trafford, his recent form has been nothing short of amazing and he is starting to show why he was chosen to be such a signing.
Sesco has scored six goals in his last seven league games, with no player scoring more goals in this period, highlighting his excellent recent form in the final third.
However, El Mara’s move could hand the club the next version of the talisman, with the youngster set to follow in the Slovenian’s footsteps at Old Trafford.
The 18-year-old is certainly a promising prospect, but the German star is already attracting attention, as evidenced by his impressive eight league goals so far this season.
But his fundamental stats also make for excellent reading, and the winger could bring further depth and quality to the Red Devils’ already impressive frontline.
Described as “phenomenal” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, El Mara has completed 2.7 dribbles per 90 attempts this season, ranking him in the top 10% of all attackers in this category.
Figures like this highlight his ability to create carnage in attacking areas, which could allow Sesco to further improve on his record in front of goal at Old Trafford.

He has also created 1.2 chances per 90 this season, further reaffirming his talent in the final third, and has taken 7.4 touches per 90 inside the opposition box.
Despite being a small and diminutive winger, the German also managed to dominate his opponents, winning 6.1 of his subsequent 90 matches and hitting 48% from the air.
£52m is a lot of money for an unproven teenage talent, but it could be a deal that sets the Red Devils up for future Premier League success.
If he arrives and can make a similar impact to Sesco at the Theater of Dreams, it would be a deal worth every penny and could also take the Slovenian to the next level.
