Chelsea’s squad are reportedly considering a huge offer worth €150 million for Aston Villa’s attacking midfielder Morgan Rodgers.

As we reported yesterday, Rodgers is on the radar of Chelsea and there is a feeling within the industry that Villa may have to be sold due to PSR.

Now, Ficages’ report takes the story a step further, stating that Chelsea’s leaders are considering signing Rodgers for up to €150 million.

The report explains that this type of fee could be very beneficial for Villa and could allow them to spend more after the recent difficult transfer window.

Will Morgan Rodgers make a record-breaking move to Chelsea?

If Rodgers were to move to Chelsea for €150 million, it would be a club record for the Blues and a huge statement of intent from the owner.

The England international is a hugely impressive talent, having scored seven goals and provided five assists in all competitions for Villa so far this season.

At 23, Rodgers is also young enough to fit into Chelsea’s project, but he also has the advantage of coming with more experience than other recent signings.

Rodgers really ticks all the boxes for the Blues and could help take their project to a new level, but it’s certainly hard to see them paying him that much.

Fichajes has said the deal could materialize for 150 million euros, but the Spanish outlet sometimes has to take it with a grain of salt.

A transfer fee of this kind would make Rodgers one of the most expensive signings in English football history, and would no doubt give Chelsea serious PSR concerns.

That said, there are also big teams in the West London squad with a lot of young players, many of whom will have seen their transfer fees skyrocket since their arrival, which could mean there could be a big sale to balance out such a big spend.
