  • Spurs are looking to replace their first-team star this summer
  • Risser enjoys ‘amazing’ campaign in France
        • Nottingham Forest demand £61m as Tottenham step up their bid for international star

Nottingham Forest are currently on the back foot and Tottenham Hotspur are serious about jumping the queue and signing a “fantastic” new signing this summer.

Spurs are looking to replace their first-team star this summer

At this stage of the season, it is highly unlikely that there will be any serious discussion about whether the 2025 Europa League winners, who did not win a game in 2026, will remain in the Premier League next season.

But that is the position Spurs find themselves in, with Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Fulham, manager Igor Tudor’s second defeat as caretaker manager, and even in the Premier League, where a post attacking goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was later deleted.

Vicario remained the Lilywhites’ first-choice goalkeeper throughout the season, but they have already taken the decision to let him go in the summer, regardless of which manager is brought in to replace Tudor.

Tottenham therefore need to bring in a substitute between the sticks and, according to a report in Caught Offside, they are currently serious about signing goalkeeper Robin Risser from RC Lens.

Nottingham Forest are under pressure following news of growing interest from the North Londoners, with Tricky Trees also keen to sign the goalkeeper, as they increasingly look to compete with interest from two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, Spurs and Newcastle United.

Interestingly, Risser’s market valuation is around 10 million euros (about 900 million yen), which seems like a very modest amount given his level of performance in Ligue 1 this season…

Risser enjoys ‘amazing’ campaign in France

Back in December, scout Jacek Kulig claimed the Lens shot-stopper was having an “amazing” season in Ligue 1, and he has continued to impress since then, with the second-best average save percentage in his division.

Meanwhile, Vicario has a save percentage of just 63.6% in the Premier League, which is the fourth-worst after Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jose Sa, Fulham’s Bernd Leno and Leeds United’s Lucas Perry.

The Reims star has kept nine clean sheets in Ligue 1 this season, tied for the most in the division, and could be ready to test himself in the Premier League.

Risser has proven he could be a real upgrade to Vicario, and his modest valuation means he could be the ideal addition for Tottenham between the sticks this summer.
