  • Tottenham are planning to sign their goalkeeper of the future
  • Spurs enter battle for Premier League goalkeeper

Tottenham have begun developing their goalkeeping strategy for the upcoming season, with Lens’ highly-rated young keeper Robin Risser emerging as a likely option.

The 21-year-old has performed well in Ligue 1 this season and sources close to the agent industry say Spurs are closely monitoring his progress while assessing potential changes between the posts. catch off side.

With Guglielmo Vicario’s long-term situation uncertain, Tottenham’s reinforcements are looking for a profile that fits both the club’s tactical identity and the club’s long-term plans.

Risser’s name has entered the conversation, setting the stage for what could be a competitive transfer pursuit this summer.

Tottenham are planning to sign their goalkeeper of the future

The current setup focuses on technical safety, distribution from the back and a goalkeeper who is comfortable operating as part of the build-up phase.

Risser seems to check some of those boxes. Since joining Reims from Strasbourg in July 2025 for around €3 million, the Frenchman has developed into one of the best young players in Ligue 1.

While his shot-stopping ability has garnered praise, it’s his composure with the ball at his feet and command of the defensive line that have particularly caught scouts’ attention.

Lens’ contract runs until 2030 and Spurs are likely to face strong resistance in negotiations, but the player’s relatively modest market valuation, currently estimated at around €10 million, makes him a viable long-term investment.

Spurs enter battle for Premier League goalkeeper

Tottenham are not the only club chasing Risser. Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United are also thought to be monitoring his situation.

If Vicario were to leave, a scenario that has been discussed in recent reports, Tottenham would need a goalkeeper who could be a reliable starter.

Alternatively, Risser could initially provide competitiveness and depth, gradually adjusting to English football before taking on a bigger role.

The French goalkeeper fits into the club’s plans, either as a direct successor to Vicario or as a strategic addition to strengthen their depth.
