Jon Rahm was victorious at the LIV Golf Event in Hong Kong, posting a final round 64 to defeat Thomas Detrie (one of the players who helped him leave the Middle East) for the title.

Belgium’s Detry was only able to compete in the tournament after Rahm arranged for a private jet to evacuate eight LIV players from the Middle East amid conflict in the region.

Spaniards Rahm and Detrie and American Harold Varner III entered the final day tied for the lead at 17 under par.

Rahm had eight birdies and two bogeys in the fourth round to win, while Detrie shot a 67 to take second place at 20 under.

“I played really well all day,” said Rahm, who earned his third LIV Golf win and first series win since 2024.

“I just knew that if I was patient and tried my best on every shot and I was doing everything right, something would happen.

“I think that was the theme almost every round this week.”

Thomas Peters finished his final round in Hong Kong with a 66 to take third place at 19 under par, and Varner III finished with a 69 to take fourth place at 18 under par.
