Speculation over the future of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has resurfaced, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid reportedly continuing to monitor the Norwegian star.
According to TEAMtalk, the Spanish giants remain interested in Haaland as part of their long-term attacking plans.
But the latest reports are quickly being downplayed. Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, categorically denied claims that talks had taken place with Barcelona and dismissed suggestions that talks had already begun about a possible future move.
Haaland signed a major extension with Man City last year until 2034, and is currently still firmly under contract with Man City.
Barcelona’s interest sparks heated debate
Fresh speculation began after Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font claimed he was seeking to obtain a “first option” to sign Haaland should the striker decide to leave Man City.
Font’s comments immediately caught the attention of the entire European football world, as Barcelona have long been linked with the prolific Norwegian forward.
The club has rebuilt its squad in recent years and is expected to pursue signing high-profile players if financial circumstances allow.
However, Pimenta quickly denied any suggestion that formal negotiations had taken place, and revealed that Haaland’s camp had not held any talks regarding a transfer.
Erling Haaland commits to Man City
Given Haaland’s current situation, he is unlikely to make any immediate move. The striker has signed a long-term contract extension with Man City in 2025, committing his future to the Premier League champions for the time being.
Since joining City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, Haaland has established himself as one of the most potent goalscorers in world football.
Haaland has consistently scored impressive goalscoring numbers and is playing a key role in Man City’s domestic and European ambitions under manager Josep Guardiola.
Real Madrid’s interest in Haaland is not new. The Spanish giants have long been linked with a move for the striker as part of their long-term strategy to build one of Europe’s most powerful attacking teams.
