Andrea Berta and Arsenal are currently actively pursuing the signing of a Serie A striker and continue to plan a summer takeover to strengthen their front line.

Arsenal are aggressively signing Serie A stars

They may be crowned Premier League champions, but Arsenal still have a lot of room for improvement. Their struggles in open play became evident against Bayer Leverkusen in midweek, and it is becoming clear that they will have to solve that problem if they want to turn a good season into a few years of dominance.

The Gunners are “really hoping” to sign a new centre-forward.

To that end, the north Londoners may turn to this summer’s transfer window. Berta brought in the likes of Martin Zvimendi and Victor Gokeres as Arsenal’s sporting director last year, and has already made a good impression in his first year in charge, but now he must build on two strong summers.

Rumors are already spreading rapidly in this regard as well. Names like Julian Alvarez keep coming up on Arsenal’s radar, and his goal in Atletico Madrid’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek certainly didn’t hurt him.

The former Manchester City forward would be a fantastic signing. He knows exactly what it takes to win a league title in England and, at the age of 26, he is proving to be at the peak of his powers.

But the Argentine international is not the only player attracting Arsenal’s attention. Alongside the Atletico Madrid star, the Gunners are also reportedly keeping an eye on Castello Lucaba, who could become the latest centre-back to arrive in north London.

Recent rumors suggest this could be another perfect opportunity for the Gunners, especially if they also bring in Santiago Castro.

Reports in Brazil claim that Arsenal are plotting a deal to take over Flamengo’s Bologna striker this summer, with Berta actively pursuing Castro.

The Brazilian club are looking to pick up where they left off after signing Lucas Paqueta in January, and are one of a number of teams interested in the forward.

Castro, who scored 10 goals, could replace Alvarez.

Alvarez may have talent, but his signing won’t come cheap and Arsenal won’t be the only team in the race to sign him. So having a backup plan in mind is a smart move, and that’s where Castro comes in.

The 21-year-old has had an excellent season in Italy, scoring 10 goals in all competitions, and looks like a striker destined to get even better with experience.

The Argentine forward, who was described as “fantastic” by talent scout Jacek Kulig last month, is one to keep an eye on when the summer transfer window opens.

The fact that Castro has not yet reached the pinnacle of his power compared to Alvarez, who is at that very moment, may convince Berta to invest in Arsenal’s future rather than their present this summer.
