Cole Palmer is thought to be likely to seek a move away from Chelsea this summer as his links with Manchester United continue.

This was the view expressed by journalist Julian Lawrence on Sky Sports when discussing transfer strategy at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer and others appear to have signed with Chelsea primarily to make a profit.

This could mean the Blues would listen to offers for the England international, but we don’t see anyone paying him as much as £150m, as Lawrence has suggested is his asking price…

“Certainly he would want to leave Chelsea,” Lawrence said.

“I think the project when he arrived worked well for him in terms of playing games in the Premier League… but now Chelsea’s project is not going in the right direction.”

Could Cole Palmer leave Chelsea for Manchester United?

Palmer started his career at Manchester City and may be looking to return north at some point.

The Sun have again reported that the 23-year-old has doubts at CFC, mainly due to his links with Man United but also with big names in Europe such as Real Madrid.

Still, there’s no doubt that Palmer has slipped a bit in recent months, and one imagines that there won’t be too many teams paying an exorbitant amount of money for him.

Given that Palmer’s contract at Chelsea runs until 2033, there is no pressure to accept an offer he is not happy with, so even if he wanted to leave, it could prove difficult.

Chelsea have a big summer ahead of them

Chelsea’s project doesn’t seem to be going anywhere and it’s perhaps unsurprising to see reports of players wanting to leave.

As well as speculation surrounding Palmer, reports from Simon Phillips and others have also increased that Enzo Fernandes could push for his departure.

It is certainly important for Chelsea to retain players like Palmer and Fernandes, who have been performing well for most of the time since joining the club.

Most of the other deals from the BlueCo era haven’t been as successful, so if these two decide to continue, this project is definitely not going anywhere.
