Declan Rice has coached Elliot Anderson
Anderson has established himself as a Premier League standout this season, but admits he has learned a lot from watching Rice during his time with the Three Lions.
The pair form a formidable ‘hybrid’ partnership in midfield, often swapping the roles of number six and number eight to allow each other to advance.
He said (quoted by Fabrizio Romano): “Declan Rice has helped me on and off the pitch. Just little things on the training pitch, little bits of advice, just putting his arm around me and building relationships in midfield. I’m trying to learn from him.”
Manchester United list Anderson as their top summer target
Although Anderson is focused on international duty, his future at the club is the subject of intense speculation.
Manchester United have made the former Newcastle player their top priority in the upcoming transfer window, according to reports.
According to reports, Manchester United are willing to build a team around Anderson and see him as the ideal successor to the aging Casemiro.
Despite strong interest from Manchester City, United are said to be willing to meet Nottingham Forest’s valuation, rumored to be in the region of £100m, to secure the signing of the sensational midfielder.
Arsenal also interested in Elliott Anderson
Man City are leading the race, with Man United not giving up on the England international, but Anderson is another Premier League giants interested.
The Daily Briefing reports that Arsenal also “feel an opportunity” to sign the highly-rated midfielder.
“Don’t rule out Arsenal yet. Man City are in talks and feel positive about their position, but nothing has progressed yet.
“What I’m hearing is that Arsenal feel they have an opportunity to do something. Other clubs are working on this further at the moment so we’ll have to see if they’re right.”
If Arsenal become serious about signing him, the possibility of linking up with Rice at club level could be an attractive factor for the midfielder.
