Liverpool manager Arne Slott has confirmed the club will be without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker for Saturday’s high-stakes FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City.
The Brazilian shot-stopper withdrew from international duty last week but remains sidelined with a muscular injury.
Speaking to club media on Wednesday, Slott gave a somber update on his number one player, while also addressing the fitness of several other key stars ahead of the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

Arne Slot shares the latest on Alisson Becker and Jeremy Frimpong
Alisson’s absence is a big blow, but there was a mixture of relief and caution regarding right-back Jeremy Frimpong.
The Dutchman was sent off after just 12 minutes in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Ecuador on Tuesday, sparking fears that he will be made redundant again.

“Alison will probably be out a little bit longer.”

The update comes as a disappointment for Frimpong, who suffered four muscle injuries during his debut season at Anfield.
The defender has already missed 25 games for club and country this season, so Liverpool fans will be waiting with bated breath for the scan results.
Liverpool will be without several star players for match against Man City
Despite the setbacks for Alisson and Frimpong, Slott was able to provide some positive news. Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa, who missed the loss to Brighton before the suspension, are expected to be available for the game against City.
Liverpool have also officially confirmed that Alexander Isak has returned to full training after sustaining a serious injury against Tottenham earlier in the season.
With Alisson absent, Giorgi Mamadashvili is expected to start in goal, with Dominik Szoboszlai likely to be asked to fill in at right-back again.
