Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a positive update on Noni Madueke’s injury situation, saying the winger will not be out for as long as expected.

In Friday’s press conference, Arteta spoke about Arsenal’s recent injuries that have seen several of their big name players miss their recent international break.

In addition to that, the Spanish tactician also dealt with the situation with Madueke, who was playing for the England national team but had to leave after falling into bad trouble.

Still, as quoted by the Evening Standard, Arteta says it appears to be only a minor problem for Madueke at the moment, with the Gunners manager describing this as “really good news”.

Mikel Arteta on Noni Madueke’s injury

“It looked really bad. Noni was really worried, especially after what happened to his other knee a few weeks ago and he was out for six weeks. But no, it’s nowhere near that injury. That was really good news,” Arteta said.

Maduke suffered an injury earlier this season, but has had a largely successful first season since joining from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old should play a role for Arsenal towards the end of this season as they chase the Premier League title, Champions League and FA Cup.

Arteta on Arsenal’s other injuries

Arteta also made somewhat cryptic statements about Arsenal’s other injuries, saying only that relations between club and national team were good.

It appears that some AFC players withdrew to rest for the run-in, but Arteta would not confirm or deny that.

“We have very good relationships and communication with most of the national teams,” Arteta said.

“Ultimately, a medical decision had to be made. It was clear what the conclusion would be.”

“When players are fit and able to play, they have to play. I’m very proud to have so many players in the national team and the players are desperate to play for the national team.

“We fully support it. When we can, we do it.”
