Trout National – an upscale new golf club with a course designed by Tiger Woods and built for 11-time Major League Baseball All-Star Mike Trout and his developmental partner John Luga – will officially open April 15 in Millville, New Jersey. This layout began preview play last fall.
The course spans 280 acres and measures over 7,500 yards with a par 72, featuring wide fairways that offer multiple routes to the greens. Six holes have water, and the bold greens are surrounded by close-cropped grass, giving you plenty of short-game options and plenty of creativity. The layout is designed with competitive play in mind, asking players a lot of risk-reward questions.

This private club also has a short course named Bullpen and a lighted putting course called Under the Lights. The entire project was directed by Trout’s younger brother, Tyler.

Woods’ TGR Designs began construction on Trout National – The Reserve in 2023 on the site of a former silica sand mine 45 minutes south of Philadelphia. In the new layout, the sandy waste area left over from the quarry is now prominent and extends into former agricultural land.
In announcing plans for the course at the time, Woods said: “Mike and John found a site with enough character to create a great golf hole. The sandy, varied terrain has many great natural features, giving us many options for how to create a world-class golf course.”
Trout, a three-time American League MVP with the Los Angeles Angels, grew up in Millville, just down the road from what became Trout National. The slugger has become a huge golf fan and said at the outset that he wanted to create an environment that mixes laughter and challenge.
“Some of my favorite golf experiences have been having fun and challenging my game, and that’s what we wanted to create at Trout National The Reserve,” Trout said. “Tiger, John and I walked every hole. This course does just that. Our vision and his design are creating something special right here in my hometown.”
