  • Rolle keen to sign midfielder in Scottish Premiership title race
  • Rolle advises Charles to have a ‘great career’
        • Ibrox officials begin talks with Rangers over £9m upgrade deal for Naderi

Manager Danny Rohr has a big say in the Rangers’ summer transfer business, and he’s pushing the 49ers to sign Nasser Dziga and former Sheffield Wednesday loanee Shea Charles to permanent deals.

Southampton’s Charles was recently a hero for Tonda Eckert’s side in the FA Cup, scoring the winning goal late on in a 2-1 win over Premier League leaders Arsenal.

There have been new reports about a possible deal with Gers for the former pupil of Rolle, who made his mark on shop windows with his performance against the Gunners.

Rolle keen to sign midfielder in Scottish Premiership title race

Rohr has done a fantastic job of getting the Light Blues back into title contention after a disastrous start under Russell Martin, but he is keen to stamp his name on the team he inherited in the summer transfer window.

This comes as reported by the Daily Mail, which reveals that manager Rolle is keen to bring Southampton midfielder Charles to Ibrox this summer, but the midfielder is valued at £20m by his current employers, so it is unlikely that Rangers will make a deal.

Hearts, who controlled the pace for much of the season, are starting to show some fragility in the Scottish Premiership title race, picking up just four points from their last three games and recently falling short in a 2-2 draw with struggling Livingston.

On the contrary, the Gers are sprinting forward with nine points from their last three games and are now just one point clear of Derek McInnes’ side with one game remaining before splitting.

Rolle advises Charles to have a ‘great career’

Given how highly Rolle rated the former Wednesday loanee last season, the Saints’ price tag will be tough for him to swallow. “I’ve seen some really good players at a high level and what you see at his age – his development, his generosity of heart and character, his understanding of the game and his intelligence… I’m confident he’s going to have a great career in the top division. Yeah…I have to say again he’s an outstanding player who will give us something special.”

The Northern Irishman is just 22 years old and has been one of Southampton’s standout performers in this season’s English Championship, ranking second in the team with an average of 2.3 tackles per 90.

However, with prices falling, it looks like Rangers may have to move on to alternative targets, with Ibrox officials having recently begun talks to sign potential upgrade Ryan Naderi, and there is no shortage.

Rangers could sign an even bigger talent to fill the number 10 slot at Ibrox.
