Manager Michael Carrick is currently urging Jason Wilcox to break Manchester United’s transfer record and sign Morgan Rodgers this summer.
Michael Carrick is Manchester United’s frontrunner
Under normal circumstances, a caretaker manager would not have made such a request, but after an impressive spell in charge, Carrick is the frontrunner to become Man United’s permanent manager this summer.
According to talkSPORT, the former Middlesbrough boss is now the frontrunner for the position following reports that Luis Enrique could extend his stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
Carrick brought much-needed calm to Man United under manager Ruben Amorim and put them on track for a shock third-place finish. It was simply an almighty change of direction.
The caretaker manager has a chance to win eight of 11 games as they face Leeds United next Monday. Even if some doubters remain, no one will deny that he is at least in contention for a permanent position.
Manchester United considering £50m move to replace Vibel’s beloved Anderson
United need to strengthen their midfield this summer.
Carrick will definitely have a lot to look forward to if he accepts the job. INEOS are looking to transform Man United’s midfield and have already set their sights on the likes of Elliott Anderson and Sandro Tonali, and could now listen to the manager’s transfer requests.
Carrick urges Manchester United to break record to sign Rodgers
TeamTalk reports that Carrick is currently pushing Wilcox to break Rodgers’ Man United record this summer. The Aston Villa star is valued at around £100m and could be on the move as the Villans aim to comply with Premier League financial rules.

4 | Romelu Lukaku | £75 million | everton | 2017 |
5 | Jadon Sancho | £73 million | borussia dortmund | 2021 |
It’s easy to see why Carrick would encourage INEOS to sign Rodgers. The pair worked together at Middlesbrough and now feel they are in the perfect position to reunite at Old Trafford.
Nor is this the version of Rodgers, who began to show signs of stardom at Boro. This is a player who has risen to stardom and is ready to make a splash on a bigger stage than ever before.
The 23-year-old has been described as “fantastic” by Villa manager Unai Emery and has contributed 17 goals in all competitions so far this season. No wonder Chelsea, Man United and other Premier League rivals are keen to sign him.
Carrick will simply be hoping to capitalize on his relationship with the midfield star, who will complete the rebuilding of the attack that INEOS started last summer.
