  • Moises Caicedo gives green light to new contract with Chelsea
  • Caicedo was on Real Madrid’s target list

World-class midfielder Moises Caicedo has reportedly “given the green light” to a lucrative new contract, with Chelsea rejecting interest from European giants Real Madrid and securing a major long-term addition.

The 24-year-old Ecuador international is set to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge until June 2033, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The progress in negotiations comes at a crucial time for Chelsea’s ownership of BlueCo.

The club has endured a tumultuous 2025/26 season under manager Liam Rosenior and securing the commitment of its most important assets has become a priority to stabilize the project.

Romano wrote on X: “Breaking news: Chelsea are closing in on a new contract with Moises Caicedo! As reported by @CLMerlo, the deal will run until June 2033 and final details will be sorted out. Caicedo has given the green light to stay at #CFC long term.”

The deal follows in the footsteps of captain Reece James, who also recently signed a long-term contract extension.

For Caicedo, the move is a clear sign of confidence in Chelsea’s future, even though they currently sit sixth in the Premier League and face competition for Champions League qualification.

The extension is a big blow to Real Madrid, who had made Caicedo their first choice to add to their midfield this summer.

Manager Florentino Perez is ready to launch a major bid for the “world-class” midfielder, according to reports from Spain.

However, Caicedo recently moved to put the rumors to rest, telling El Chiringuito TV that his only focus is to become a “Chelsea legend”.

By signing a nine-year contract, Caicedo effectively ends any speculation about a move to the Santiago Bernabéu, ensuring he remains a key player in the Blues’ midfield for the next decade.
