Manchester United are expected to make some sort of statement this summer. The Red Devils already received support from INEOS last summer, and that support is likely to be repeated in 12 months. Qualifying for the Champions League would be a much-needed boost.

Who will arrive remains an open question. There has been a lot of criticism in the past regarding Manchester United’s reinforcements. Under INEOS, that criticism would be unwarranted.

They have transformed their reinforcements at Old Trafford, with all four of last summer’s signings now progressing well and similar deals could be made in the coming months.

Man United ready to storm the Premier League again

It wasn’t easy to make a change at Old Trafford. After all, Man United’s recruitment was very much based on sticking with big names that would sell shirts, rather than names that would thrive in the right system.

This resulted in the arrival of Angel Di Maria and Anthony, as well as the return of Cristiano Ronaldo and Memphis Depay. Everything fell short of expectations.

Ronaldo’s return was probably the biggest red flag that the Glazers’ reinforcement strategy simply wasn’t there. The iconic forward had an excellent first season back at the club, but was still an aging forward and left Man United struggling with a lack of possession. It completely derailed Erik ten Hag’s reign.

This is a move that INEOS would not have made a few years later. Instead, last season focused on getting the perfect match. They have transformed Man United’s front line with proven players who have played near the bottom of the Premier League. Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbeumo have since repaid that faith.

This time, they are set to storm the Premier League once again. Elliott Anderson is a big name being targeted, but he is not the only player from England’s first team who could be heading to Old Trafford.

In fact, Manchester City have reportedly held talks with Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Crupi, but TEAMtalk reports that a number of other teams are also in the race.

They reported this week that Man United are also eyeing him and see him as a “strong fit” to further improve their attacking potential.

Liverpool and Chelsea are also monitoring the signing of the youngster, who could cost around £69m.

Why Crupi could be Manchester United’s next Rooney

It’s not often that teenage talent consistently makes headlines in the Premier League. But if that happens, it’s no surprise that England’s best clubs will be on high alert.

Just ask Wayne Rooney. Like Crupi, he burst onto the scene at a mid-table club and made an incredible impact as a teenager before joining United and achieving further heights.

Well, the 19-year-old Bournemouth star appears to be in a similar situation in that respect.

Man United are well aware of his talent, having become the first teenager to score 10 goals in the Premier League since Romelu Lukaku netted 14 in 2013/14, in the same season that saw Max Dauman and Rio Ngmoja grab the headlines.

He is certainly one of the best young strikers in the world at the moment, quick-footed and a complete threat to defenders, and capable of delivering against even the strongest players.

In fact, he has scored twice against league leaders Arsenal this season, most notably in Arsenal’s 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium just a few weeks ago. Recently, he calmly converted a penalty against Manchester United.

For Manchester City, it would be an opportunity to sign another Bournemouth talent soon after the success of Antoine Semenyo. This is United’s chance to sign their next Rooney.

Crupi, hailed by former Liverpool star Daniel Straridge as “one of the best finishers in the Premier League”, has only one way out.

The idea of a strike partnership between the teenage star and Sesco should be enough for Manchester United to pursue a move this summer, let alone the idea of beating Manchester City.
