Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Daniel Svensson from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old left-back has performed very well for the German club and could command a transfer fee of around 35 million euros in the summer. According to a report from Fussball Daten, two Premier League clubs are interested in signing him.
It’s no secret that Liverpool need more depth in their left-back department. Andrew Robertson is set to leave the club in the summer and they need a replacement for him. The Scotland international is an exceptional asset to the club and replacing him will not be easy.
They have invested in Milos Kerkes, but they need more depth in that area. You can’t expect the Hungarian to last the entire season as the club’s only left-back. Svensson has four goals and two assists this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal could lose Myles Lewis-Skelly due to lack of game time in the summer. They will need other options in his absence and the Sweden international could be ideal for them. But he will also want to play regularly. It remains to be seen whether Svensson is willing to accept a role as an Arsenal international.
The opportunity to play in the Premier League is extremely exciting for any player. There is no doubt that the 24-year-old would be tempted by a move to a big club. Arsenal and Liverpool also have the financial strength to pay the asking price. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
The 24-year-old has the physical and technical attributes of English football and could be a key player in the right team.
