Rumors keep coming in about Anthony Gordon’s immediate future at Newcastle United, with PIF currently actively ‘monitoring’ Donyell Malen.

Romano shares ‘serious’ update on Gordon’s future

It was an unforgettable season for Newcastle. They are behind rivals Sunderland and are closer to the relegation zone than Champions League qualification with just a few games left.

Better than Anderson: Newcastle are in talks to sign £70m English star

Newcastle are set to launch a joint bid for the elite midfielder this summer.

Serious concerns have been raised about Eddie Howe’s future, but he is not the only manager heading for the exit this summer. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared an update on Gordon’s future on Tyneside on his YouTube channel, claiming there is a “serious” chance he could leave within the next few months.

Of course, that could be courtesy of Bayern Munich. The German giants have reportedly been in contact with Newcastle about a move for the forward since February, and the rumors don’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

Another offensive sending off would be a huge blow less than 12 months after Alexander Isak completed his record sending off from St James’ Park. But it looks increasingly likely that Newcastle will face a season without European football.

Replacing Gordon will also not be an easy task. The Magpies already have a lot to make up for in the reinforcements department following last summer’s disastrous result, and that could start with signing an exciting attacker.

Newcastle bosses ‘watching’ Donyell Malen

As reported by Corriere dello Sport and relayed by Sport Witness, PIF is currently actively “monitoring” Malen, with Newcastle potentially moving to sign the Dutchman as soon as this summer.

Although he remains an Aston Villa player on paper, Roma are almost certain to turn his loan move into a permanent move at the end of the season, before trying to fend off interest from the St James’ Park side.

As such, this deal is unlikely to come cheap. According to reports in Italy, Roma are expected to make an offer worth €50m (about £43m) in the coming months after an impressive loan spell.

Eleven of Malen’s 19 goals in all competitions have come in Serie A. He has been a revelation since arriving in Italy, with Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini describing the forward as “extraordinary”.

If he can get his form back into the Premier League, Newcastle could instantly upgrade Gordon for a much cheaper price. The Dutchman has outperformed the Magpies winger in every key category this season.

The fact that he shares an agent with Tino Livramento only further boosts Newcastle’s pursuit. If their interest turns into an offer, there’s a good chance a deal will go through.
