Leeds United remain interested in signing Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, according to the latest updates from Football Insider.

The France international, who is on loan at West Ham this season, is Daniel Farke’s main target as the Whites look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Leeds were heavily linked with the 28-year-old during the January period as he sought a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Although he ultimately lost out to the Hammers for his signature, Elland Road’s recruitment team continued to closely track his development in East London.

Leeds United are “confident” of signing the Chelsea defender if West Ham are relegated, according to reports.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, correspondent Pete O’Rourke confirmed that DiSasi’s performance had seen him move back to the top of Leeds’ shortlist.

The defender has impressed during Nuno Espirito Santo’s time as manager, proving he can thrive in the competitive environment of the Premier League.

O’Rourke said: “Leeds had their eye on Disasi before he moved to West Ham. They were one of the clubs interested in the French defender.

“They will be monitoring the situation closely. We fully expect Daniel Farke’s side to strengthen their centre-back options in the summer after moving to a three-man defensive formation.”

Having struggled to find a consistent role at Chelsea, his long-term future is all but certain to be away from Stamford Bridge, with him expected to leave permanently this summer.

West Ham want DiSasi to stay, but permanent transfer depends on survival

West Ham are keen to turn DiSasi’s loan into a permanent deal, but any move would depend on them successfully avoiding relegation.

The Hammers, who currently sit 18th in the table after a controversial defeat to Arsenal, are heading into the end of the season on edge.

Disasi is enjoying quality time at West Ham, but the prospect of remaining in the Premier League with Leeds, where he is already guaranteed safety, may be more attractive than spending the season in the second tier.
