PGA of America appoints Nathan Charnes as acting president after Don Rea’s suspension

The PGA of America Board of Directors on Friday announced a new acting president following Don Rea’s suspension.

Nathan Charnes has been appointed acting president after serving as PGA vice president from 2024 and will assume the role immediately. Mr. Charnes will lead the association’s officers and board of directors.

Mr. Rea was relieved of his duties as president even though his term remained until November. The PGA of America said the leadership change was made following “a long-standing series of issues that, taken together, have been determined to be detrimental to the association.”

PGA Chairman Don Rea removed from PGA Tour Board of Directors to focus on ‘members first’

The PGA confirmed that Rea Jr., whose two-year term as president expires at the end of this year, was removed from the PGA Tour’s board of directors last November.

The PGA of America noted that the changes within its organizational structure are “limited to board leadership and do not affect the association’s executive leadership or day-to-day operations.”
