It’s safe to say that everyone pays close attention when David Ornstein posts transfer news, so Liverpool fans will likely be excited about his latest update on Yann Diomande.
It seems clear that the Reds have a concrete interest in the RB Leipzig winger, with manager Ornstein insisting he will firmly compete with Paris Saint-Germain for the talented young Ivorian international.

It’s not the first time we’ve heard of Liverpool’s transfer rumors regarding Diomande, but Ornstein’s comments on it could be significant, with The Athletic’s journalist saying talks between the clubs could soon follow.
However, he also says that this could be expensive for LFC as Leipzig are asking €100 million for the 19-year-old winger…
“Yan Diomande is a strong target for Liverpool. #PSG Even among suitors, #LFC A strong candidate. The 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger has a strong position and negotiations between the clubs will continue if a player deal is possible. #RB Leipzig We will seek more than 100 million euros for the sale,” Ornstein posted on X.

Will Yan Diomande move to Liverpool to replace Mohamed Salah?
We already know Mohamed Salah will end his Liverpool career this summer after nine incredible years at Anfield.
The Egyptian international is a Liverpool legend and the best player in Premier League history, so replacing him will not be easy.
However, Diomand looks like a promising young talent, so he could be one of the better options, even if it looks like he’ll cost a lot of money.
The problem is that the same goes for players like Bayern Munich winger Michael Oliseh, so there’s probably no way around this without spending money.
Should Liverpool spend big again?
Liverpool may be wary of another big-money transfer window after last year’s financial slump.
Spending big money on Diomand may seem appealing now, but at the time they did the same with Florian Wirths, another outstanding young player in the Bundesliga.
However, the German international has been a bit of a failure so far and there is no guarantee how Diomande will cope with the step up to play for a big club in a more competitive league.
