Manchester United plan surprise move for ‘untouchable’ Chelsea ace

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea defender Josh Achiampong.

The 19-year-old has struggled to earn regular minutes and could be open to leaving the club in the summer. However, Chelsea rate the player highly and consider him untouchable. It will be interesting to see if players force quit.

He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and Manchester United could offer him more opportunities. The young defender is highly regarded across England and Manchester United. We need a quality long-term replacement for Harry Maguire.

Acheampong could be a great acquisition.

Ben Jacobs said of Acheampong in the United Stand:

“A more right-sided option, Josh Acheampong, Chelsea have always said he is not for sale, period.

“And I’ve come to believe that’s a genuine stance.

“But Achiampong, who is also on the radar of Manchester City, will need to understand going into the new season with a new manager, how often is he going to play?

That’s because Chelsea are considering signing another new starting centre-back.

“Maybe if Alonso goes back to his favorite back three, Acheampong will get more chances, or maybe he won’t.

“Chelsea’s view is therefore that he is almost untouchable, but information suggests that the player would be interested in considering options if they feel that he will not be able to get regular game time next season.”

Manchester United have qualified for the Champions League and need to improve their team if they are to perform well in multiple competitions. They aim to compete with elite clubs next season and need more quality in their squad. The 19-year-old defender is an investment for their future and could develop into a key player at the club.
