Fulham and Brighton could be in contention for the ‘absolutely sensational’ player who just won the Player of the Season award.
Marco Silva cottagers make summer plans amid uncertainty
It remains unclear whether Marco Silva will remain at Craven Cottage beyond the summer, with the 48-year-old recently admitting he plans to make a decision on his future soon.
Silva said: “I don’t see it (uncertainty) as a problem. I’ll make a decision next week. One offer could be from Fulham. I’m Fulham’s manager for the last game of the season.”
If the former Everton manager decides to remain in west London, he could be tasked with filling in for key players, with the futures of Harry Wilson and Raul Jimenez also up in the air.
When asked about the duo, he added: “Right now he (Wilson) hasn’t decided anything. Everything is in the hands of his agent. It’s his decision. It’s the same for Raul.”
Despite uncertainty over who will be next season’s manager, the West Londoners continue to plan for the summer transfer window and are currently in the race to sign the midfielder.
Fulham compete with Crystal Palace to sign ‘sensational’ star
TEAMtalk reports that Fulham and Brighton are in the race to sign Hayden Hackney after Middlesbrough lost 1-0 to Hull City in the Championship play-off final.
With Kim Helberg’s side underpowered at Wembley, there is growing speculation that Hackney could be a summer signing, with Boro hoping to keep him for a £25m transfer fee.
This summer could be the Championship side’s last chance to secure a big transfer fee as the midfielder approaches the final year of his contract, with a number of Premier League clubs interested.
Fulham are actively searching for a new midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window, with Aston Villa’s Ross Barkley also mentioned as a target, and the Middlesbrough star could also be an exciting option.
Hackney was hailed as “absolutely sensational” by reporter Scott Wilson in the early stages of the campaign, and was subsequently named the Championship’s Player of the Year.
year | 10 final championship players of the season | club |
2017 | Anthony Knockaert | brighton |
2018 | ryan sessegnon | Fulham |
2019 | Teemu Pukki | norwich city |
2020 | ollie watkins | brentford |
2021 | Emiliano Buendia | norwich city |
2022 | Aleksandar Mitrovic | Fulham |
2023 | Chuba Akpom | middlesbrough |
2024 | Crisencio Somerville | leeds united |
2025 | gustavo hammer | sheffield united |
2026 | hayden hackney | middlesbrough |
So the central midfielder, who scored five goals and provided eight assists during the regular season, is set to make the jump to the Premier League, and £25 million would be a reasonable price.
