Manchester United are set to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson this summer.
The Times reports that they have agreed a deal to sign the Brazilian midfielder for £38m. He has had an outstanding performance with Italian clubs and has the physical and technical attributes to play in English football.
Manchester United need players who can control the tempo of the game and support their defence. The 26-year-old could be the ideal player for them. He needs to form a solid partnership with Koby Mainu.
Meanwhile, Manchester United also need to invest in quality defensive midfielders to support them. They have qualified for next season’s Champions League and need to strengthen their midfield to compete against elite teams.
Signing Ederson would be a step in the right direction for them, but it remains to be seen whether they can find a quality player to replace Casemiro now.
The Brazilian is at the peak of his career and it is the perfect time to join a big club like Manchester United. He will aim to make his mark on English football next season. He has the technical attributes to adapt quickly to English football. A £38m move may look like a solid investment for Manchester United.
Ederson has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent seasons and Manchester United will be delighted to have secured his signature.
The Brazilian will be the first signing of the summer transfer window, but it remains to be seen whether he can improve in other areas in the coming weeks. They have performed well this season, but they need more quality and depth if they want to do well in the league and in Europe next year.
Apart from midfield, they should also aim to sign a quality left-back.
