Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is rumored to be on the verge of leaving the club during the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Gazzetta dello SportJuventus are interested in signing the 28-year-old France international and could consider a move in the coming weeks.
They are looking to add more depth to their offensive line. Dusan Vlahovic will be moving on as a free agent, so they need to properly replace him. Jonathan David wasn’t underwhelming at all. It remains to be seen whether the Italian club will be able to convince the French attacker to join.
Mateta was heavily linked with a move to Italy a few months ago. The opportunity to play for Juventus will be exciting for him. He has consistently proven himself at Crystal Palace and may feel now is the right time to take on a new challenge.
He helped the Eagles win three trophies last year. They have won the FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Europa Conference League. The French attacker scored the goal in the European Cup final, bringing the club the first European trophy in its history.
His departure will be a blow to Crystal Palace, but if they allow him to leave quickly, there will be plenty of time to properly replace him. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
Considering his contract situation, he could be acquired for a reasonable fee. The striker’s contract expires next summer, putting Crystal Palace under pressure to sell him. They wouldn’t want to lose a player of his quality and experience for free. It would make sense to sell this player now and replace him appropriately.
28 year old striker Scored 16 goals and provided 3 assists Last season. His numbers could improve if he plays in a top team with more services.
