Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, with the Catalan club expected to be able to sign him this summer.
According to TEAMtalk, United have recently held talks regarding the 22-year-old, but neither United nor Chelsea have yet made a formal offer.
For United, that interest fits into their wider plans. Michael Carrick’s side are looking to rebuild their midfield, with Ederson already set to join from Atalanta.
The Guardian reports that United have agreed a £35m deal with the Brazilian but are still considering further midfield options.
Chelsea are keeping an eye on Casado
Chelsea’s interests are a little different. The Blues like Casado’s profile but cannot guarantee him regular football.
That could be a problem for the young midfielder who leaves Barcelona in search of a clearer path.
Chelsea already have several midfield options, but with Xabi Alonso planning to rebuild his squad, it’s no surprise that they are eyeing young, technical and tactically smart players.
Casado fits that model, even if Stamford Bridge doesn’t offer the easiest route to a consistent start.
Barcelona’s financial situation presents an opportunity for Man United
Barcelona are expected to move Casado as they need room for new signings and changes to their squad.
Manchester United are in talks over a potential deal, but Monaco are making a strong push and may currently have a lead over the Premier League club.
Casado’s stats show why he is attracting interest. According to FotMob, in the 2025/26 season he has made 981 appearances in La Liga, provided 1 assist and has an average rating of 6.78.
UEFA also credited him with a passing accuracy of 85.84% in the Champions League.
United look like a better fit at the moment. Carrick needs depth in midfield and Casado could offer him a clearer development plan.
Chelsea may admire him, but joining another crowded squad would be risky.
