In 2016, the Williams sisters teamed up to win the doubles title at Wimbledon. Ten years later they’ll try it again.
Serena Williams will continue her tennis return by teaming up with sister Venus at the prestigious Grand Slam, it was announced on Tuesday.
The pair have enjoyed great success in the tournament throughout their careers, having won the Wimbledon doubles title six times, the last time being in 2016. For the first two championships, the Williams sisters were wild cards.

It will receive the same designation in 2026. Neither player is ranked high enough to qualify for Wimbledon, as Serena has just returned and Venus has only played sporadically in professional matches. Therefore, they are considered wildcards in the event.
As doubles partners, Venus and Serena have had a lot of success. Together they won 14 Grand Slam titles. Wimbledon was the best event for them. Not only have they won more Grand Slams than any other, they have also won the last two doubles titles at this tournament.
Venus, who turns 46 on Wednesday, has continued to compete in events sporadically over the past few years. She struggled as a singles player in 2026, going 1-5. She will try to flip that script at Wimbledon.

Serena, 44, announced her return to doubles in early June after taking a break from the sport for about four years. She competed in the HSBC Championship earlier this month, winning one match before being forced to retire after doubles partner Victoria Mboko went down with an injury.
Serena will also take part in the Berlin Open, playing doubles with Karolina Muchova. Their first match at the event is scheduled for Tuesday.
During Serena’s return, there are rumors that the tennis legend will compete in Wimbledon singles once again. Although she hasn’t announced it yet, one wild card spot in the women’s singles at Wimbledon remains “to be announced”, potentially paving the way for Serena to return to singles competition.
