Liverpool’s move to sign Yann Diomand has become even more complicated, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly preparing to make an initial bid for the RB Leipzig winger.
According to BILD, PSG are ready to make their first official offer for the Ivory Coast player.
This is bad news for Liverpool. We have already seen a bid of 100 million euros rejected by Leipzig.
The Reds have made Diomande one of their priority attacking targets as they look to further pace and improve long-term quality under manager Andoni Iraola.
The newspaper reported that Liverpool were willing to pay around £86m, while Leipzig were demanding closer to £112m.
PSG pressure changes race for Liverpool
PSG have been in contact with Diomande’s representatives in recent weeks, making PSG’s interest a serious issue.
The Evening Standard even reports that the player has verbally agreed terms with the French champions, which could be advantageous for the French champions if he meets Leipzig’s valuation.
For Liverpool, this is exactly the transfer race they wanted to avoid.
They have already signed Victor Muñoz from Osasuna, but Diomande is seen as a high-ceiling attacker who could play a key role in the post-Mohamed Salah era.
RB Leipzig remains strong
Leipzig are under no pressure to sell. The 19-year-old is currently playing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup and could become even more valuable if he performs well.
talkSPORT report that Leipzig have rejected Liverpool’s package and are settling for a transfer fee of over £100m.
Liverpool remain in the race to remain, but the atmosphere will change completely with PSG’s predicted bid.
If the Reds want Diomande, they may need to act quickly. Otherwise, he may have to risk seeing another elite young winger flee to Paris.
